Education should not be something you do in order to get more. Rather, it should be what you do to give more. Imagine a world where the biggest investment in development is not monetary, but rather evolutionary.

When it comes to learning there are many alternative options, often more cost-effective and timely than the traditional path. But telling the story of a different journey requires initiative, confidence, and support.

This is a community of "collab-mates" sharing thoughts (not class content) about online courses, books, talks, or any do-it-yourself non-traditional development hack. It’s a space to share your experience while remaining open to new ways of learning.

Together we can create behaviors that are unique and diverse. Create a profile, add the link to your favorites, and let's grow together.

I love the concept of sharing alternative learning information through a shared community with similar interests. Thank you for starting this! Some of the best learnings and advice I have received has been through another person who had a similar experience or need. This community enhances those opportunities to share and collaborate.

I've participated in a few of the Creative Confidence series webinars from IDEO U. This one is with Eric Ries on Building Experimental, Learning Organizations . I'm registered for this one and should you do the same then let me know. They usually are about an hour and are viewable through the Zoom app.

Thank you for considering being part of test. This community is starting with a small group invitation to gauge interest, provide insight, and experiment with this collaboration tool. If officially launched in early 2018, it may shift to another platform (i.e. LinkedIn Groups) to incorporate larger participation and/or change names to something more descriptive (i.e. Alternative Development). Included in this post is information about the community vision. I welcome your feedback on its clarity and invite you to participate by post, comment, or simple observation. Also, if you are interested in being a co-group founder/admin/moderator should this launch then let me know. Lastly, should you create an account then make sure to set-up notifications by clicking on your profile pic then settings. Please let me know if you have any questions, Matt
